Michael Pungello

Michael is the newest member of the DMX music design team, having started at the company in early 2007. Prior to that, he worked for years as a club and event DJ in the Dallas area for clients such as Neiman Marcus, Kim Dawson and the Dallas Market Center, in addition to having ongoing residencies at Lee Harvey’s and the Sapphire Room.

For Michael, his work at DMX is all about a multi-tiered, conceptual approach that both active and passive listeners can take something away from. His philosophy is that the role of the music designer hinges on not only providing a soundtrack to the physical environment of the business space but also accentuating the idea of the brand story as musical travelogue. Such an approach allows opportunities to see how eclectic you can make a music design concept, while still having it all hold together and remain relevant to the brand.

Michael continues to be fascinated by the wildly divergent reactions that people have to sound, as well as to the special place that music holds, even for people who claim to not care about it.
